UK Disability History Month started in 2010 and runs from Wednesday 22nd November till Friday 15th December. It is an annual event to create a platform to focus on the history of the struggle for equality and human rights for those with disabilities.

The University of Kent have organised a number of events and exhibitions to celebrate, such as mindfulness workshops, blue badge ‘stand up’ comedy nights, as well as talks from many inspirational people.

The university is aiming to raise disability awareness, raise the profile of disabled students and staff and the challenges they may face, counter prejudice, inspire and explore disability history in the context of art.
