LaMelo Ball starred for BC Vytautas in a one off exhibition game against the London Lions.
16-year-old LaMelo was only outscored by his brother LiAngelo, 19, on his way to a 39-point triple double.
The Lithuanian team, sponsored by the family’s business Big Baller Brand, got off to a fast start with both brothers scoring early on. However, scores were level after five minutes when the Lions scored consecutive buckets.
In a game where little defense was played, both teams were focusing on shooting three pointers, with varying degrees of success.
LaMelo, shot frequently, mixing making the shots and missing the hoop entirely to the amusement of the crowd to lead the scoring at half time.
It took him just three quarters to record the triple double, finishing with 39 points, 16 assists and 16 rebounds.
LiAngelo however, started slower than his brother, scoring 17 points in the first half, but came out on fire during the second half. He upped the scoring rate as BC Vytautas pulled away in the second half.
The Lions kept up with the scoring of BC Vytautas as the halftime scoreline read 65-64 at halftime
Regular scoring from within and outside the three-point line helped him rack up a game high 44 points, just days after he declared for the NBA Draft.
The brothers from Chino Hills, LA, played the whole game and didn’t let off from Coach and Father LaVar’s high intensity game plan.
NBA fans James Fletcher and Anish Kansara said they really enjoyed the day out.
“We regularly watch NBA at University and to watch two future NBA players was too good an opportunity to pass on,” said James.
Anish was equally enthusiastic. “I just got into basketball last year and this is my first game I’ve gone to. I’ll definitely be going to more in the future.”
