Child sex offender convicted

A paedophile has been convicted of multiple sex offences at Maidstone’s Crown Court.

Andrew Gibbs has been found guilty of a series of sexual abuse, between 2006 and 2008.

The 53-year-old has been remanded in custody and will be sentenced on June 28.

Kent Police were first informed of allegations of child sex offences in 2016.

Appearing before Maidstone’s Crown Court today Gibbs was charged with a string of offences including, two counts of the rape of a child, sexual assault of a child and three counts of making indecent photographs of a child.

The judge, Recorder Mark Weekes said: “These are horrifying offences and it will be a substantial sentence in double digits.”
