Police appeal for witnesses after Preston shop burglary

Police are appealing for witnesses after a burglary at a shop in Kent.

Preston village stores owner Holly Douglas rang police at 6am on Saturday May 12 after discovering the break-in.

Ms. Douglas claims around £10,000 worth of stock was stolen.

She said: “I was in utter shock as you don’t expect it to happen where we are, such a close community.

“Luckily I had the member of staff with me as I broke down a bit and felt majorly hurt.”

Kent Police believe the burglary happened between 1am-2am, and claim a vehicle may have been needed.

Sergeant Ben Norbury of the Dover Community Safety Unit said: “We believe the offenders would have needed a vehicle and are appealing to anyone who was driving past that night and saw suspicious people or vehicles in the area to contact us, especially if they have dash cam footage that could help our enquiries.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who has information about the burglary or has since been offered cigarettes for sale.”

If you can help please phone Kent Police on 01843 222289 or Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 quoting reference number 12-0219.
