Mysterious note near Faversham leads to search for teenager

A note found near Ospringe church has sparked a search for a troubled 13-year-old.

Katie Cole, whose husband found the letter whilst walking, posted it on social media in a bid to track down the teenager.

The letter reads: “I know no one will see this, but I have hope. There is so much going on in my life. I don’t know if I can handle it.

“I self harm but I feel that it’s not enough, I just need to get this all off my chest.

“This little woods is peaceful, calm and somewhere I relieve my stress. I’m only 13.”

After finding the note Danny Harris contacted the police and his wife Katie tried to find the unknown teenager on Facebook.

She said: “After I shared it all on Facebook a man contacted me and gave me a direct email address for a police officer in charge of vulnerable children.

“I emailed the 2 secondary schools, only QE got back to me to thank me and said they would try to find out if it was a student of theirs.

Despite Katie contacting the police, she has been left disappointed by their response to the letter.

“I am quite disappointed with the police as they really haven’t seemed to bother. I wouldn’t even have had any contact with the police if someone hadn’t given me their direct email.”

In response to her email, Sergeant Tim Hill said that although there is “no evidence of an immediate threat to life. I am confident that they can be traced.”
