5 reasons Mothercare customers think Canterbury’s store should remain open

Mothercare has confirmed it will be closing 50 stores across the UK leaving 800 job positions at risk.

And despite no plans to close the Canterbury branch, a level of uncertainty is lingering around.

Some Canterbury residents oppose this news and have given their reasons why the local store should not close:

1) One of only a few stores to stock maternity wear in store

A Canterbury resident Charlie Turrell said: “Mothercare in Canterbury is the only place that you can buy maternity wear in store”

stores such as H&M and Dorothy Perkins sell maternity wear but it must be ordered in store.

2) It’s a community

Another Canterbury resident, Faye Godfrey said : “I always found my local Mothercare a great place to find out about local family events.

“And to meet like-minded Mums and Dads in the area.”

Mothercare isn’t just a store its a group and they regularly run events for families and pregnant women. For example, they have one upcoming called ‘The expectant parent event’ running through June.
