Divas on Wheels come to Canterbury

Divas on Wheels are hosting their annual cycling challenge in Kent for the 5th year in a row.

The event is taking place in Canterbury on June 24 and will start from The Independent Pedaler in Bridge.

Divas on Wheels help raise money for Pilgrims Hospices and it is organised and ran by the Community Fundraising Team and Canterbury Hospice.

The event has been running since 2013 and this year will be its fifth year of the event.

Lydia, organiser of Divas on Wheels said: “Pilgrims Hospices has been running Pilgrims Hospices Cycle Challenge since 2009, this event sees men and women cycle routes of 45, 75 and 100 miles around east Kent.

“Divas on Wheels was then born to encourage ladies to get on their bikes and out on the road in a safe and supportive manner, making it open to novice to experienced cyclists.

“To make Divas on Wheels open to riders of all abilities, we provide a Dr.Bike at the start of the ride who is a bike mechanic to offer any last minutes tweaks needed to their bikes.

“Divas on Wheels has now seen over 700 ladies take part in the ride and has raised over £80,000 for Pilgrims Hospices, so it has most definitely been a success in getting the female community of east Kent out and on the road.

“With it being the fifth year, we have moved to a new home at The Independent Pedaler in Bridge and have introduced brand new 25-mile and 50-mile routes around the east Kent countryside.

“Previous years have shown around 200 ladies to take part in Divas on Wheels each year, this year we are hoping to get around 250 ladies involved in the event.

“All money raised from Divas on Wheels will go directly back into the care provided by Pilgrims Hospices. Divas on Wheels is just one of our sponsored activities which contributes to us raising the vital funds needed to continue providing the care and support we do to our local community.

“When crossing the finish line you will be welcomed into our Divas Village where you can enjoy music, food, pampering, retail therapy, a raffle and so much more!”
