5 Places To Watch The Royal Wedding In Kent

This Saturday is being dubbed ‘Super Saturday’ with two huge televised events happening, the FA Cup final and the Royal Wedding.

If you didn’t already know, Prince Harry is marrying Meghan Markle, at Windsor Castle on Saturday May 19.

The BBC have waived the TV Licence fee, meaning that events across the country can show the Wedding live.

If you are thinking of going out and enjoying the heatwave, here are the best places you can watch the Wedding in Kent.

1. All Saints Church, Canterbury

The church, on Military Road, will be open all day for fans of the Royal family and football to bring a picnic and enjoy the festivities.

The event starts at 11:30 and you will be able to watch the bride and groom tie the knot at around 12 on a big screen TV, with the football starting at 5.

Free refreshments will be available all day, with craft activities and penalty shoot outs to keep the kids, and the big kids, entertained.


2. Hever Castle, Hever

Hever Castle

Feel like a king or queen at Hever castle, and celebrate the Royal Wedding in style in their Moat Restaurant.

The Wedding will be screened in the restaurant so you can relax while you watch, and if your name is Harry or Meghan/Megan entry is FREE!*

Immerse yourself in the Royal surroundings and specially made elderflower and lemon cupcakes with white chocolate mascarpone topping; the same as the Wedding cake!

3. Dreamland, Margate

Time to dust off your wedding dress!

This event is giving FREE entry and an unlimited ride wristband to anyone wearing a wedding dress, or with the names Harry and Meghan*.

Since you’ll be appropriately dressed, why not get blessed by Dreamland’s resident vicar in the giant inflatable church?

This is set to be a street party line no other, with giant ‘foot pool’ and a mass bouquet toss competition as well as multiple photo opportunities with props.

Dreamland are even waiving their no food policy for the event, so you can bring a picnic to enjoy while you sit and watch the Wedding on the big screen.

4. The Lounge Bar and Kitchen, Canterbury

With the largest screen in Canterbury, The lounge Bar and Kitchen will be showing the Royal Wedding from 9am until 2pm, followed by the FA Cup final with a 5.15 kick off.

This event will be a three in one, with the Wedding in the morning, Football all afternoon and the huge student Summer Ball in the evening!

5. Whitefriars Shopping Centre, Canterbury.

Whitefriars launch their Whitefriars in Bloom campaign this Saturday, coincidentally the same day as the wedding!

To celebrate they’re holding a Wedding themed street party, with free refreshments and decorations to fit the Royal Wedding theme.

The day starts at 11 and includes a range of other free activities, with live jazz and face-painting.
