Festive Rochester House Lights Up For Kent Air Ambulance

A Rochester house has been wrapped in thousands of lights to raise money for Kent Air Ambulance.

Ex champion of ‘Best House In Kent’ has pulled out all of the stops for this year’s Christmas decorations.

There is a box for visitors who wish to donate and all proceeds will go to Kent Air Ambulance.

Owner Derek Graves said: “I really support the Kent Air Ambulance, they’re local.

Also, you never know when you’re going to need the service.”

House 30 of Woodside Green, Cliffe Woods, Rochester, won the award ‘Best House’ from Heart Radio (formerly Invicta FM) back in 2005.

The house contractor decided to have another go this year after taking an 11 year break.

He said: “Even when life gets you down, you have to see the brighter side of things.

“Life just got in the way but this year I decided to try again.”

Derek has spent over £3,000 on outdoor Christmas lights. He felt that there was pressure for the house to be perfect but his ‘glass is always half full’.

The Christmas-lover added: “Come and support a worthy cause.

“Just follow the glow.”

Over 100 people turned up at the launch night on December 2. The lights will be turned off on January 6, 2018.
