The Royal National Lifeboat Institution for Dover and Folkestone are hosting their annual Mayday fundraiser throughout this month.
The ‘yellow welly’ event will be held on May 19 to help raise money for vital crew kit.
The fundraising event will start of in Folkestone at 10am where the yellow welly relay will start.
Crew will board the lifeboat at Folkestone Harbour and then make their way back to Dover beach to the fundraising event that will be located in Dover town centre.
A spokesperson for the RNLI said:
“We will be holding a yellow welly relay that goes all along the south coast and will start off at Folkestone Harbour. The lifeboat ‘City of London 2’ will be going to Folkestone Harbour Arm, at approximately 10:00am to collect the famous yellow welly.
“The lifeboat will then make its way back to Dover beach, where it will drop the yellow welly of to our mascot Stormy Stan.
“Once received, our mascot will walk it to Dover town centre where it will be given to the RNLI fundraisers outside the closed Mcdonalds.
“Also in town will be the RNLI shop, cake sales, kids glitter tattoo’s, sweet stalls and face painters. There will also be lots of free items that we will be giving away to adults and children.
“The welly will spend an hour in town before going to Dover Castle for our charity partners, English Heritage, to use for there own publicity shots.
“From there it will lastly be taken to Walmer Castle and Wellingtons boot, where it will be handed over to Walmer RNLI.”
