The campaign after it’s first year helped 2.8 million 14-40 year old women say they have done some or more activity as a result from their campaign.

President of Sport at Canterbury Christ Church, Chloe Wolloway said: “I think ‘This Girl Can’ is important at this university because, within our sporting community there are over 1,000 members and a lot of them are female. But there are a wider range of students that we need to target, and a lot of them are female.

“Given a lot of students are on placement, commute or are on different campuses we find it difficult to target them. So for us to take on ‘This Girl Can’ it is really important, because we can use that as a way of getting them involved in sport.”

This Girl Can said: “Whether you’re cycling to work, literally running the school run, or getting muddy with your pooch in the park, we’re celebrating all the amazing ways you fit exercise into your life.”

Megan Dornan, who plays Hockey at Christ Church said: “Playing hockey gives you opportunities like no other. It allows you to set and achieve goals, both by yourself and with your team.

“It lets you push yourself to be the best you can be, and the friends you make in the process are priceless! Playing hockey gives you more than just a hobby, it gives you a family.

“I think the ‘This Girl Can’ campaign is so incredibly important, because it highlights just how powerful and inspiring girls can be as athletes! No matter what level you play at, or what sport you’re playing, participating in physical activity can make you feel strong, motivated and happy.”
