Premier League predictions: Manchester or Merseyside? 5 biggest games of the weekend.
By Sonny Snelling
The Premier League is back after last weekend’s FA action. Sonny Snelling gives his opinions on the scores and the teams.
Last week’s predictions.
Actual score | Sonny’s picks | |
West Ham Vs Man City | 0-5 | 1-2 |
Man U Vs Reading | 4-0 | 3-1 |
Preston North End Vs Arsenal | 1-2 | 0-4 |
Spurs Vs Villa | 2-0 | 3-0 |
Tottenham Hotspur VS West Bromwich Albion (Saturday, live on Sky Sports 1 HD)
Spurs are on fire at the moment. Their win against Villa in the cup could have been 3 or 4. If they play like they did against Chelsea the week before they are sure on winners. West Brom have become Spurs bogey team. Their last 3 meetings have all been 1-1 draws. The baggies are having a great season under Tony Pulis. They sit 8th in the league. A disappointing FA cup loss to Derby County at home will see them want to get back to winning ways in the premier league. Tottenham at home are still undefeated. I see this being a tough game for spurs, but one they’ll win.
Sonny predicts 2-1 to Spurs.
West Ham United VS Crystal Palace. KO 15.00
Big Sam returns to West Ham as Palace boss. He will be hoping to get a first win for his new clubs with 2 draws and 2 losses already. West Ham were very poor against City. I know City should be winning that game, but with West Ham having big aspirations losing 5-0 at home isn’t good enough. A bad week for West Ham got even worse when star player Dimitri Payet told the club he wanted to leave. Palace top player Wilfred Zaha has now gone to AFCON which is a huge blow. This I can only see being a draw.
Sonny predicts 1-1.
Leicester City VS Chelsea (Saturday, live on BT Sport 1)
The Champions vs.the league leaders in past years this would have be seen at the clash of the titans. This season it is somewhat different. Leicester have not hit the heights that won them last year’s trophy. They sit 15th in the table 6 points of the drop. If they don’t pick up steam they will be in a relegation scrap. Chelsea were unbeaten in 13 games until their away game against Tottenham where they were 2nd best to everything. I see them bouncing back from that defeat and hitting Leicester where it hurts. With Eden Hazard back to his best and N’Golo Kanté haunting his former team.
Sonny predicts 0-3 to Chelsea.

Everton Vs Manchester City (Sunday, live on Sky Sports 1 HD)
The first game of Super Sunday sees the Toffees take on the Sky Blues. Everton have been doing well in the transfer window this week.Signing young prospect Ademola Lookman from Charlton and Morgan Schneiderlin from United. These I think are good business for Everton they need a replacement for Barry in the middle. Schneiderlin is raring to have a new start by reuniting with his former Southampton boss Ronald Koeman. John Stones returns to Goodison Park to play his former team. The youngster will be hoping not to make any mistakes because he’s bound to be booed by the home fans. After their impressing win in the cup against the Hammers, City will want to regain top form to be in the title race.
Sonny predicts 1-3 to City.
Manchester United VS Liverpool (Sunday, live on Sky Sports 1 HD)
One of the biggest games in world football follows as United take on Liverpool. The feistiest and heated game of them all. United go into this on a 9 game win streak in all competitions. Big swede Zlatan Ibrahimović yesterday won Decembers player of the month award after scoring 12 goals in the same amount of appearances. Liverpool had a nightmare against League 2 Plymouth Argyle. Jürgen Klopp fielded Liverpool’s youngest ever team and paid the price by not being able to find the back of the net. They now have to deal with an away replay which they did not want. Klopp is set to start Brazilian player maker Philippe Coutinho and will want him to find his form quickly again.
Sonny predicts 2-0 to United.
