Police appeal after attempted ATM theft

An investigation has been launched after thieves attempted to steal a cash machine in Tunbridge Wells.

Kent Police was called  at 2.20am on May 9after a silver 4×4 reversed into the front of a shop in Silverdale Road.

Chain used

The vehicle  had a red stripe on the sides and used a chain in attempt to drag the ATM from inside the premises.
The 4×4 left the scene towards Woodland Road and detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate are investigating the incident.

District Commander, Chief Inspector Peter Steenhuis said:

“Considerable damage has been caused to a local shop during this failed burglary. While our investigators are pursuing a number of lines of enquiry, we are appealing for witnesses who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area.

“We would also like to hear from anybody who saw a vehicle of this description travelling into the area or leaving towards Southborough.”
