#JimiTheHero has been trending on Twitter since the news broke that a 20-year-old man died trying to save a stranger who fell from London Bridge.
Folajimi "Jimi" Olubunmi-Adewole jumped into the River Thames to save a woman's life, and sadly lost his own life in the process.
At around midnight on 24th April, the young man leapt into the freezing water along with another man, and they both tried to save the woman. When the rescue squad arrived, they were able to save the other man and the woman, but Jimi was not found. Six hours later, his body was retrieved.
His father said: "He is a hero, and always will be, I can’t bring him back but I want him to be remembered forever for what he did, it was just like him to want to always try and help others."
An outpouring of love and tributes to Jimi have been filling Twitter with the hashtag '#JimiTheHero'. Those that knew him have been uploading personal messages, and users in their thousands have been sending condolences to his family, tributes, and deep respect for his actions.
His GoFundMe page has received thousands of donations, well beyond his family's expectations.
