The Book of Boba Fett: 5 things fans want to see!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! A new live action Star Wars mini-series streaming on Disney+, and this time its the turn of the best bounty hunter in the Galaxy, Boba Fett. After returning in The Mandalorian season 2, Boba Fett quickly returned to the hearts and minds of Star Wars fans. As the curtain closed on season two, and most of us Star Wars fans were sobbing after the final scene, where Luke Skywalker returns to train Grogu (Baby Yoda) which still gives me the sniffles, those who stuck around for the end credits had a treat in store.

Then the wheels of Disney marketing began to turn and it was revealed that the Book of Boba Fett would be hitting our small screens on December 29. Expectations are justifiably high and here’s 5 of the things fans want to see from the Book of Boba Fett.

Mandalorian Culture

Season one and two of Mandalorian gave a new insight into the culture of the Mandalorians, and forever ingraining the phrase ‘this is the way!’ in to the collective minds of fans. Religious aspects, teachings, different Mandalorian factions, history of the Mandalorians and important cultural artefacts, seen in live action for the first time.

However, Disney has 35 years of shelved Star Wars lore to fall back on and reintroduce into the galaxy, making it a richer place and further cementing Mandalorians as the bad-asses we know them to be. The animated Star Wars: Rebels did begin to reveal some of the ancient history of Mandalore, including the Darksaber, with Rebels showrunner Dave Filoni taking the reins with the Book of Boba Fett, we can all expect some Mandalorian secrets to be unearthed.

Cameos and Character teasers

Throughout both seasons of the Mandalorian, we were treated to some cameos from the galaxy. Bo-Katan, Bib Fortuna, Cobb Vanth, Ahsoka Tano, R2-D2, LUKE SKYWALKER! are some of the big cameos we saw, not to mention the big name drop of Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Thrawn in all of his big blue glory is more likely to be a part of Ahsoka’s very own spin-off show however, but the opportunities for great cameos as Fett and his partner Fennec Shand trawl through the criminal underworld are grand indeed.

The Fate of Mandalore

The last time Mandalore was seen in any guise was in the season finale of The Clone Wars season 7, where Bo-Katan and her Nite Owls bid farewell to Ahsoka and the 332nd battalion. Since then, Imperial forces took Mandalore from Bo-Katan, and committed the atrocity known as the Great Purge. Much like Order 66, Mandalorians of all ages were executed and those who could fled to the outer systems.

Groups like The Deathwatch, The Nite Owls, The Children of The Watch and Din Djarin’s Tribe all moved underground. When Fett duels with the Nite Owls, he grovels that the Empire ‘turned Mandalore to glass’ and is pessimistic in the Nite Owls efforts to retake the planet. The true fate of Mandalore is something that fans have been speculating about and the series would mark a good time to see the legendary planet live action for the first time.

Criminal Underworld

Although extensively looked at through the pre-Disney canon, the grimy underworld of Star Wars has not been explored in depth. Attempts were made through Solo to show off the face hidden by the mask but the less said about that film the better. As Fett says throughout the trailers, he ‘intents to rule with respect’, this quest for fealty could take us on a whistle-stop tour of the galaxies bounty hunters all bending the knee to Boba himself.

Boba Fett’s past

From the second trailer, the book of Boba Fett looks like it will explore Boba’s story from his believed demise at the hands of the Sarlaac, up until he is spotted rescuing Shand in the first season of the Mandalorian.

Cobb Vanth gave us a hint in the second season that surviving a Sarlaac isn’t as insurmountable as it my seem. Footage of Fett healing suspended in a bacta tank does suggest that fighting a Sarlaac is a bit of challenge though.
