Following the towns Christmas light turn on on the 15th of November, the levels of festivity have skyrocketed. The Christmas market has been set up, along with the ice rink and many more exciting christmassy things.
This time of year is about family, community and love, and all of these things have been made available through the Christmas market, the ice rink and much more.
1. Canterbury Christmas market
This magical festive market is very popular with Kent residents during this time of year, as it allows for both the young and old residents of the town to immerse themselves in Christmas festivities. Not only residents, but tourists travel in to get a taste of the infectious Canterbury Christmas spirit. This perfect family day out offers food, shopping and activities for all the family to enjoy. The beautifully decorated Christmas huts entice those with a sweet tooth to come along and grab a bite to eat
2. Ice rink [Dane John Gardens]
Today, Canterbury’s annual ice skating rink has returned to Dane John Gardens. The dazzlingly lit up park, is perfect for an affordable, chilled fun day out, due to family package’s retailing at £38 and adult prices at £12.50. The event has proven popular with residents in previous years students in particular who use it as an opportunity to take a break from gruelling uni work and escape to a magical festive dream land. The well known Ashford Designer outlet is a perfect place to pick up all your christmas goodies, for killer prices. Ashford is a magical place, as it is one of the only shopping outlets where you can get high end items like Ralph Lauren for a ridiculously low price. It is the perfect place to shop on a budget as you are guaranteed to leave with your hands filled with bags.
4. Santa by train [Kent station]
The East Kent railway stations annual ‘Santa by train’ event begins on the 1st of December. This exciting experience consists of a trip to the north pole on a train filled with festive decorations, treats and gifts. Due to its success in previous years the pre booked tickets are selling out fast, which is why everyone needs to grab a ticket. Not only has it been a hit for the kids but also the parents as according to trip advisor Rmummy says, ‘We had a great time, the staff that are all volunteers pulled out all the stops, we will be back again’.
5. Hop farm [Maidstone] Christmas grotto
The Maidstone Christmas grotto, ‘Hop farm’ is the ultimate Christmas experience that no child would want to miss. It has already proven popular with locals as many dates have sold out, despite the grotto not opening until the 1st of December.
