Can you believe the decade is almost over? It’s certainly been a great decade for films, no matter who you are.
This is the decade where the Marvel Cinematic Universe came into its own, where animation finally became more than just family films and where smaller filmmakers received wider acclaim.
But, with the good comes the bad and when we’re talking about a decade there’s more than a few silver screen screw-ups.
Believe me, it was hard to whittle this list down to just 5 movies…
There are times when the name says it all.
The 2016 movie starred Robert De Niro as the titular character, who is taken to Florida by his grandson who is played by Zac Efron.
With comedy so bad that it makes South Park seem like Shakespeare, it’s little wonder why this film was savaged by critics.
In my opinion it’s just awful, on a level that leaves you saddened and angry instead of clutching your sides.
M. Night Shyamalan’s adaption of the popular cartoon series leaves a lot to be desired.
The cast is devoid of any personality. The CGI is limp and uninteresting and M. Night’s directing decisions are baffling at best and infuriating at worst.
It feels like Shyamalan either didn’t know or didn’t care about the property he was adapting and the critics responded in kind to him.
Released at the height of the adult comedy trend in 2013, Movie 43 seems to have the highest budget out of any movie on this list.
Look at the cast, for example, which includes stars like Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry and Anna Faris.
It’s a shame then that the film is a disgusting train wreck.
It is filled with “jokes” that run the gambit from groan-worthy to gut-wrenching.
Don’t even show this to your worst enemies. It would be a cruel and unusual punishment.
I doubt anyone has heard of this 2014 biopic about the origins of FIFA (The organisation, not the video game).
Given how utterly vain it is, it’s not a bad thing that it has been forgotten.
In my opinion it’s propaganda, sanitising the corruption that has dogged the football organisation in favour of an uninteresting sports drama about people who are already running the show.
If you want a good sports film there are loads of choices from all over the globe, like ‘Goal!’ another is ‘The Damned United’ they deserve far more attention than this trash.
Despite having no budget, awful technical aspects and acting that is better suited to a pantomime this is probably the best film on this list.
Of course, the reasons aren’t intentional…
An apocalypse where poorly animated birds attack random people provides the backdrop for some of the most hilariously bad scenes in any modern day film.
Out of all the other films on this list – this feels the most earnest.
This is the kind of film that you’d laugh at rather than condemn or feel disappointed by and on a list like this, that honestly makes it the best of the worst.
But it’s not good.
What about you? What do you think is the worst film of the decade? Did your choices make it to this list? Let us know in the comments.
