Six fire engines battled a barn fire in East Malling last night, at 11.30pm.

The blaze needed 35 fire fighters, six engines, a height vehicle and a bulk water carrier to attend and put out the fire.

The fire in Wateringbury Road destroyed 50 per cent of the roof and a quarter of the inside house in an effort that lasted until 5am the next day.

The road was closed while firefighting took place and a Red Cross Vehicle was called to provide support to the residents.
