Ady Pennock’s first press conference as Gillingham boss
Former Gillingham captain Ady Pennock gave his first press conference today after replacing Justin Edinburgh as manager.
Pennock took over from Edinburgh after the Gills boss was sacked on Tuesday.
The new manager, who made 199 appearances for Gillingham said: ”
I really did enjoy my time here then , they were very good years, but a lot of things have happened since then.
“This is a totally different scenario, this is perfect and it’s a dream. It’s a very good club and they want to push on.”
Pennock was pleased he had the chairman’s backing and was full of praise for the coaches at the club, he said:
“I’m delighted to be back. Everyone knows what I think of the football club. When the chairman gave me a call we had discussions for a couple of days, but it was great, Paul said some very nice stuff about me and he said he wanted me to be the head coach.
“Steve and Jamie are very good coaches, very honest. The biggest thing for me is trust and I am really looking forward to it.”
Gillingham’s next game and Ady’s first game in charge will be away to Oldham on 14 January.
