Bus company responds after fatal collision

A bus company in Chatham, Arriva, has confirmed one of its buses was involved in fatal collision which led to the death of an elderly lady.

The woman was hit by a bus at the Waterfront Bus Station on Tuesday, May 9.

Arriva shared a statement today stating it will be conducting its own investigation into what happened.

“We can confirm that an Arriva bus was involved in a serious incident at the Waterfront Bus Station in Chatham, Gillingham on May 9,” a spokesperson said.

“We continue to work with the emergency services and in addition, we are carrying out a full, independent investigation.

“Our thoughts are with those affected.”

The officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) have appealed for people to share any dashcam footage or CCTV to contact them.
