BREAKING NEWS: Government says NO to academies
By Sean McPolin & Sonny Snelling
The Government has just announced it will abandon plans to force all school to become academies.
BBC news reported that Education Secretary Nicky Morgan said
“This is about being a listening government and I would consider myself to be a listening Secretary of State.
“We absolutely support those strong local authorities where schools are good and outstanding they can make the choice to convert to academies.”
She added: “We absolutely support those strong local authorities where schools are good and outstanding they can make the choice to convert.
“I hope that they will because we are convinced that becoming academies does lift standards but they can do the right thing for them and I think that reflects the concerns and the conversations that we have had.”
Who'd have thought – announcing #academies climb down day after #Elections2016 with results still coming in. Oh and #Parliament not sitting.

.@NickyMorgan01 I am very pleased to see this remain a "choice" and not a demand. https://t.co/ImnjyqaSbD #education #uk
