Canterbury Student Scam Warning

Students have been warned about scam Facebook pages. A statement has been released by Canterbury Christ Church Student Union urging not to fall for the fake pages.
The fake groups and pages advertise an event happening in the local area or university campus, which is not run by the Students Union and asks you to sign up. It is not known yet where the scam events have come from.
The post on Facebook by CCSU said: “The Students’ Union are doing what we can to remove the groups, however never give any personal details to an unverified or untrusted source. We believe these groups are harvesting student data for other purposes and the events will not actual happen.”
Other student unions across the country have also issued warnings.
