Chatham man suffering from flashburns and hypothermia after boat rescue

A man in his 50’s is believed to be suffering from flash burns and hypothermia following a boat fire off St Mary’s Island in Chatham.
Kent Fire and Rescue services were called to the incident shortly after the man was rescued from the blaze by nearby army personnel who noticed smoke coming from the scene.
The man was treated at the scene by paramedics but was later taken to hospital.
Firefighters were assisted by the army in putting out the blaze and removing the boat from the embankment.
