By James Hind

A man has been jailed for more than four and half years after a string of robberies carried out over a three day crime spree.

Matthew Lycett, 23, stole hundreds of pounds from shops in Gillingham while holding them up at knife point. His three-day robbery spree started on Saturday, October 15 and ended on October 17.

Forensic evidence and CCTV images led to his arrest and he was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on January 20 this year. He admitted to two counts of robbery, one of attempted robbery and three of making threats with a bladed object.

Detective Constable Nicola Lincoln said: “Matthew Lycett is unfortunately well know to us and has made a habit of committing violent offences to fund drug addiction”.
