FA Cup 4th round predictions: Will there be any upsets? 5 biggest games of the weekend
By Sonny Snelling
This weekend is about the FA cup 4th round. Can there be big upsets? Or will the Premier League teams show their class? Sonny Snelling gives his opinions on the scores and teams.
Actual scores | Sonny’s picks | |
Liverpool Vs Swansea | 2-3 | 3-0 |
Stoke Vs Man U | 1-1 | 1-1 |
City Vs Spurs | 2-2 | 1-2 |
Arsenal VS Burnley | 2-1 | 2-0 |
Chelsea Vs Hull | 2-0 | 3-0 |
Derby County Vs Leicester City (Tonight 19:55, live on BBC1)
The Rams currently are lingering outside the promotion places in the Championship and have had a mixed season. Every year the push for promotion, but always get pipped at the end. In the last round Derby got a well-deserved 1-2 win away at West Brom who are in fine form. Derby manager Steve McClaren will want his team to show the same grit in this game. Leicester still aren’t hitting the same heights as last season. Selling N’Golo Kanté has shown what a player he was for them. The foxes were very disappointing against Southampton in the league last week and were played off the park. However in the cup they beat Everton away and were impressive. Claudio Ranieri seems to be prioritising cup competitions which is a good thing to do, but not if it effects your league form. I expect this to be a proper game of football. I could see an upset on the cards with a Derby win. Their home ground can be intimidating for any team.
Sonny predicts 2-1 to Derby.
Tottenham Hotspur Vs Wycombe Wanderers (Saturday 15:00)
What a tie for both clubs. Tottenham would be pleased with this, but shouldn’t knock their opponents. Spurs drew against City at the weekend in a game with lots of drama. They were outplayed by the Sky Blues but showed character to come back for two down to get a draw. Spurs played Villa in the 3rd round and didn’t have to move out of second gear to beat them 2-0. Around 50 places separate the two teams. Wycombe sit 5th in league 2 and are always coming close to promotion to league 1. Last summer they signed the Beast himself from AFC Wimbledon. Voted the strongest player in the world Adebayo Akinfenwa. The 34 year old has already scored 2 in the Fa cup this season after Wycombe overcame Stourbridge FC in the last round. Tottenham will be playing a weaker team, but you would think this should be a game the can win. Especially if they want some silver ware this season.
Sonny predicts 3-0 to Spurs.

Lincoln City Vs Brighton & Hove Albion (Saturday 15:00)
What a fairy-tale this would be. Non-league Lincoln in the 4th round. They were the better team in both games against Ipswich and will be looking for another upset. They are managed by former Essex PE teachers the Cowley Brothers. They top of the National League and eyeing promotion to the League 2. Although this tie is great and a win would be amazing I think the main aim is the promotion charge. Brighton similarly are having a great season. They sit top of the championship and are battling with Newcastle for the title. Brighton are a better outfit than Ipswich so should show more class. Although the neutral would love a Lincoln win I think the Seagulls with beat them with ease.
Sonny predicts 2-0 to Brighton
Southampton Vs Arsenal (Saturday 17:30, live on BT Sport)
An all Premier League clash here. Southampton are back on track after a convening 3-0 win over champions Leicester. They also will be playing the EFL cup final against Man U after beating Liverpool in a defensive masterclass. The Saints knocked Arsenal out of the EFL cup on rout to the final and will be hoping for the same result at home. Arsenal won controversially against Burnley last week. The game was full of big decisions including red cards and penalties. Arsenal always do well in the cup, but the saints are unpredictable at the moment so I fancy them especially at St Marys.
Sonny Predicts 1-0 to Southampton.
Sutton United Vs Leeds United (Sunday 14:00, live on BT Sport)
The lowest ranked team left in the competition sit 15th in the National League. Again I would love them to make it to the next round. Sutton beat League 1 Wimbledon. So they can beat teams above them. Leeds though are a mighty opposition. They are having a rebirth this season and sit 3rd in the Championship. They are play-off favourites and could see a return to top flight football next year. I don’t think there will be an upset. Leeds will overcome their opponents.
Sonny predicts 4-0
