Palace Wood school to represent Maidstone United at Wembley

Palace Wood Primary school will live many footballers dreams as they play at the home of football this weekend.

The team will  be representing Maidstone United in the Vanarama National League Trust U11’s Girls’ cup final this weekend at Wembley.

The girls’ team will be facing the National League North girls cup winners, Seamer and Irton Girls who are representing Scarborough Athletic.

Speaking to the club’s website, Trustee of The Stones Community Trust, Mike Cogger was full of praise for the young side.

“Many congratulations to the girls, they did us proud today,” he said.

“They were superb at the Maidstone Mini World Cup event and have shown real character and determination at the two regional heats.”

The road to Wembley began in February where Palace Wood conquered a strong Coxheath Primary school side in the final of The Stones Community Trust’s Under 11 Girls’ Mini World Cup.

They then went on to finish as runners up in the south-east tournament, before beating Bromley and using extra time to get past Southend United to finish as the south champions.

Palace Wood will look to repeat the success of Allington Primary School who claimed the National League Trust U11 Girls’ Cup for Maidstone United with their success in the finals last July.
