Exclusive: The cheapest spots to fill up with petrol and diesel in Canterbury
Petrol costs in the UK have hit their lowest point since 2021, as a result of falling oil prices and fears surrounding a global recession. But not all regions are seeing the same savings.
According to recent data, Belfast is the cheapest place to fill up, with prices set as low as 122.9p per litre, while those in London are paying the most, with lows of 127.7p.
In Kent, and particularly Canterbury, prices have seen similar trends in the reduction of fuel costs, however there is still significant variation within the city. The Canterbury Hub breaks down where to fill up for less, and where you might be spending more than needed.

Tips to save on fuel
The best way to save on petrol is to plan ahead, by using price comparison apps such as PetrolPrices or Waze. These apps are easy to use and are often free of charge.
Some supermarkets offer discounts or coupons for loyal customers. For example, Tesco shoppers can make use of their Clubcard and gain points when they fill up at one of their stores.
Midweek often sees slightly cheaper price points of fuel as Tuesday and Wednesday have less demand compared to the weekend.
Although fuel prices are dropping, the gap between the cheapest and the most expensive stations is still wide enough to make a difference to the total cost. For regular drivers, knowing where to fill up could save you anywhere between £5 and £10 per tank.
