Ashford councils shame owners as they crack down on dog poo

An increase in dog fouling signage has become visible around the Ashford with the hopes of encouraging dog walkers to clean up after their pooches.

In an attempt to raise awareness of dog fouling and remind people to clean up after their dogs this signage and spray paint has been implemented by Kingsnorth Parish Council.

Signs have been placed on lamp posts which read “The Dogs (Fouling of Land) Act 1996. Designated area.”

There has also been orange eco paint sprayed on pavements which read “Your Dog. Your Job” and “Bag it. Bin it.”

Peter Le Rossignol, Kingsnorth Parish Council Manager stated why the signage had been placed: “Kingsnorth Parish Council actively work with Ashford Borough Council to raise awareness of dog fouling in the Parish.

“We have had lots of complaints in the past about dog walkers not picking up after their dogs and leaving mess on footpaths and pavements around Kingsnorth.

“To try to raise awareness we used orange eco spray paint and stencils to put symbols on footpaths reminding people to pick up after their dogs. We have also placed more signage around the Parish to reinforce the message.”

These implementations hope to reduce the amount of dog mess being left on pavements and footpaths.
