How are you going to spend your May Day bank holiday weekend?

Relaxing? Catching up with spring cleaning? Or are you looking for something a bit different?

There are many fun events happening across Kent for the May Day Bank Holiday.

The Queen’s Joust at Leeds Castle

Combat, action, feasts and horses. There is a lot on offer at Leeds Castle with the Queen’s Joust. You get to experience medieval living as you watch knights joust upon their noble steeds. Also a chance to explore the three gardens and 500 acres of parkland.

Kent Life’s May Day Celebrations

Kent Life is offering traditional entertainment for the whole family to enjoy. So if you want to dance around the maypole, watch the parade with Kent Life’s Mr Moo. There is also animal encounters, Big Top shows and a Steam Organ entertainment.

Rochester Sweeps Festival

The 40th edition of the Rochester Sweeps Festival after being postponed due to COVID-19. This international celebration of folk music and dance turns the city of Rochester into a riot of colour and sound. Along with the musicians and bands from across the folk circuit are hundreds of Morris dancers joining in the celebrations.

Hever Castle May Day Weekend

Hever Castle and Gardens is celebrating May Day Bank Holiday by hosting a weekend of fun family activities. With a maypole, Morris dancing and the chance to watch a free May Day Play on the castle.

Chiddingstone Castle Literary Festival

Chiddingstone Castle is back with this year’s Literary Festival. The festival is to host literary legends Michael Morpurgo and Victoria Hislop as they discuss their latest stories for children. Each event in the festival is followed by a book signing session with each author.

Weald of Kent Country Craft Show

After a three year hiatus, the Weald of Kent Country Craft Show is back at Penshurst Place in Tonbridge. You get to try a variety of artisan food, interactive workshops and over 150 independent stall holders for you to explore.

May Day at Whitstable Castle

Whitstable and Herne Bay Lions Club are happy to host May Day at Whitstable Castle. On Monday 2nd May there is stalls, entertainment, free children’s games and Punch and Judy for the whole family to enjoy.
