Blue Bell Hill set to re-open following month-long roadworks

The A229, Blue Bell Hill is finally set to re-open after roadworks caused the road to be closed for a month.

Two of the carriageways’ lanes were closed off due to emergency repairs.

SGN replaced 180m of metallic mains with a modern plastic pipe.

The repairs started on Sunday 6th November and have been carried out since.

With the repairs came complications for motorists with ongoing delays and heavy traffic leading many to have to find alternate routes.

University student Oscar, 20, was making his way home from work when he encountered the complications

“The traffic was horrendous, I just wanted to get home from work and I got home an hour after I anticipated.”

Gritting Kent have kept motorists updated to ensure that they are doing everything they can to make sure the lanes are safe.

“I’m glad these roads are re-opening, I will feel a lot safer knowing all lanes will be open and wont be stressing about re-routing” said Oscar.
