General Election: Dover MP’s delight at winning seat

Dover’s new MP, Natalie Elphicke, has spoken of the ‘honour’ of being voted the first female MP for the area.

Natalie Elphicke commented: “I’m very honoured to be the first female MP in Dover and i just think its really good for women to be involved in politics and be involved in lots of different activities in public life and I would encourage other women to do so.”

Natalie is taking over the position from her Husband, Charlie Elphicke, after doubling his majority. She commented: “I think that Charlie Elphicke had a tremendous record being an outstanding member of parliament for the area, it’s up to me now to make my own mark. The people have elected me and I’m really looking forward to getting stuck into the job.”

Charlie Elphicke has said: “I think that she has done a fantastic job, she had a tough and positive campaign and she has managed to double the majority here. I think that she will be a fantastic member of parliament.”

Natalie has said that the direction that she wants to go in is clear, to get Brexit done. She said that the Conservatives want to make sure that we have better healthcare and more jobs and money.
