Heathland fire on the Isle of Grain

Four fire engines attended a heathland fire on the Isle of Grain, in the Medway district.

Rescue services tackled approximately three hectares of heathland, trees and shrubbery that were alight, near West Lane.

The area is a known local habitat for around 300,000 wetland birds.

Crews attended at around 5pm, no injuries were reported and the cause is unknown.

This comes after a Herne Bay flat fire in Kent, along with several other fires in the county.
