10 pubs in Canterbury where you should enjoy the sun

Spring has sprung and we are have started to feel the warmth of the summer weather, and what better way to enjoy the sun than a visit to a pub and soak up the rays with a nice cool pint.

Thankfully, we are blessed with a great number of good pubs in Canterbury and a lot of them have great beer gardens or outside spots too.

So here is a list of some great pubs where you can take in the sunshine.

The New Inn

Nestled away past the Kings Mile, is this intimate little pub that sells real ale and great cider too. The beer garden is big, sheltered by greenery and soaks up the sun.

Penny Theatre

One of the cities best sports pubs, the Penny Theatre has outside TV screens where you can enjoy the football or cricket and a range of cocktails to enjoy as well. The Garden has an open section but also booths to enjoy some face to face time.

The Parrot

Potentially Canterbury’s oldest pub, The Parrot has cosy feel inside and a decent size garden with shelter as well, just in case the British summertime rain makes an appearance.

The Dolphin

Approximately 30 seconds across from The Parrot is the Dolphin, which has by far the biggest garden on the list and a range of good wines as well. The food is also wonderful.

The Millers Arms

Located opposite the Great Stour, The Millers Arms doesn’t have a garden but it does have outdoor seating. The pub is on the corner so is sun kissed but also a healthy breeze comes through every now and again.

The Lady Luck

Sat on the high street, The Lady Luck has a small but mighty garden tucked away at the back. Nice pints and a jukebox makes the pub feel that little bit special.

The Black Griffin

A stones throw across the road from The Lady Luck is The Black Griffin. The garden here is of a good size, with shelters and heaters just in case and has a great atmosphere on the weekends.

The Bishops Finger

Up past the Westgate towers, this pub has a great range of wines and beers to enjoy in their large garden. A huge canvas sweeps over to protect from getting burnt and also has outdoor screens for those who want to indulge in a bit of sports.

The Three Tuns

5 minutes walk from the Whitefrairs shopping centre is The Three Tuns which has a great garden. It’s a good size and in a nice spot but could do with a bit more green.

The Cricketers

Finally on our list is The Cricketers. Sat on the high street opposite Five Guys is this smallish pub with a tight garden. The spot is nice and provides great views of the nearby St. Peters Church and is dog friendly
