Kent covid cases finally start to drop
Covid cases in Kent are beginning to fall again, after steadily rising day on day last week.
Daily cases in the county finally started to drop on Saturday, going from 1,649 to 1,385 on Sunday.
Both the South East and South West recorded almost twice the rate of infections than anywhere else in the country over the last seven days.
This compares to the lower rates which can be seen in the North East which has a rate of 556.8 cases per 100,000 people and Yorkshire and The Humber with a rate of 568 cases per 100,000 people.
Cases have been rising since the beginning of the month across the county.
In the last seven days 15,366 people have tested positive in Kent bringing the total number of cases in the UK in the last seven days to 607,737.
The NHS has announced a spring booster jabs for those 75 and over or those 12 years and above who are immunosuppressed.
A plan released in February detailed how the UK will live with Covid with reliance on vaccinations and removal of restrictions.
This comes after the booster vaccine rollout during the spread of the Omicron Variant before Christmas which spread rapidly throughout the country.
