Emergency accommodation is being provided for rough sleepers in the Medway area following the implementation of the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol.
As the temperature drops to freezing, with forecast lows of 0°C in Medway tonight, emergency shelter is being provided.
Harsh low temperatures warned in the South Eastern area today.
Rough sleepers are encouraged to make their way to Kingsley House in Gillingham between 8:30am and 4:45pm to avoid the tough conditions.
Those who cannot make it to Kingsley House will still have shelter provided through the council’s out of hours homelessness service, which can be contacted on 01634 304400.
Canterbury has also placed a Severe Weather Emergency Protocol into effect in order to protect rough sleepers against the harsh temperatures, working with Outreach and so far helping 18 people in need. Canterbury Council is also calling for volunteers to help at the winter shelter, if you can help call 01227 464904.
