Residents Warned After BMW Steering Wheel Thefts

BMW owners have been advised to be vigilant due to thefts of steering wheels from cars in Higham. Six steering wheel thefts have occured around Higham – Charles Dickens Avenue, Forge Lane, Copperfield Crescent, Telegraph Hill, Penenden Heath, St Francis Close, Heathfield Close Northway.

Medway’s Community Safety Unit Inspector Rachel Harris said:

“While we will investigate crimes reported to us I would like to ensure residents remain vigilant and to report anybody acting suspiciously after dark to call us on 101 or 999 in an emergency.

“I’d also encourage residents to park your car in a well-lit area on a driveway or inside a garage overnight if possible.”

 

Other items including: navigation systems, computer screens and car radio’s have been taken.

Police are urging residents to keep their valuables safe overnight and to check their CCTV for possible evidence.
