High Street closed for Netflix show The Crown

Rochester’s historic high street is closed today as Netflix plans to film their hit show ‘The Crown’.

The street has had a transformation back to 2005 Windsor, as filming crews prepare to recreate the wedding of King Charles (then prince) and Camilla.

Only a section of the road has been closed, but passersby have shared their images of the changes made on Facebook.

The high street has now become Windsor for the day whilst filming for The Crown.

The high street should be back open as normal from tomorrow, but the recreation will not be seen on Netflix until season 6 of The Crown is released, which is expected at the end of the year.

Tiny Tim’s of Rochester tea rooms warned customers of the road closures via their Facebook page, but also said: “Just a heads up we will be open all day tomorrow if you want to come see all the action.”

High street shop Capture the Castle has also invited customers to watch the filming as their shop will also be open.

Kent isn’t new to being used as a filming location as it has been seen in some high-profile feature films before.

More productions may soon be filmed in the county as a TV and film studio is being developed in Ashford.

Will you be watching the new season of The Crown because of Rochester’s involvement?
